Hazel Ruth Gideons, age 91, went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 28, 2016. She passed at the DeQuincy Care Center, DeQuincy, LA. She is survived by her brother, Kendall Gideons of Alvin, TX, sister, Patsy Gideons Andrews (Husband, Walter) of Fort Worth, TX and sister-in-law, Frankie Gideons of Rosharon, TX many nieces and nephews and their families and her special angel and caregiver, Myra McCready.
Hazel was a real trouper throughout her life even though she faced many trials as a result of her polio as a baby. She always had...

Hazel Ruth Gideons, age 91, went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 28, 2016. She passed at the DeQuincy Care Center, DeQuincy, LA. She is survived by her brother, Kendall Gideons of Alvin, TX, sister, Patsy Gideons Andrews (Husband, Walter) of Fort Worth, TX and sister-in-law, Frankie Gideons of Rosharon, TX many nieces and nephews and their families and her special angel and caregiver, Myra McCready.
Hazel was a real trouper throughout her life even though she faced many trials as a result of her polio as a baby. She always had a ready smile for everyone. She' walking and talking now and is with those that have preceded her in death: parents Pat and Ruthie Gideons, brothers Lloyd and wife Clessie Gideons, Howard Gideons, Wallace Gideons and sister-in-law, Pauline Gideons (wife of Kendall Gideons).
Friends of her graduating class of 1945 were very special to her as well as the nurses that took care of her at the Merryville Nursing Center, Merryville, LA before its closing. She is the oldest charter member of Bible Baptist Church, DeQuincy.
Services for Hazel will be held at the Bible Baptist Church, Thursday, December 1, 2016 with Rev. Richard King, Rev. Marvin Keown and Rev. Walter Andrews officiating. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM with the service following. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery, DeQuincy. Arrangements entrusted to Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy.
In Lieu of Flowers, contributions can be made to the Mission Fund of Bible Baptist Church, DeQuincy, LA.
